It was developed and published by Codemasters. The game has been made for Microsoft Windows, Xbox, and PlayStation 2. It was launched on 21st of July, 2005. It was the first day of 2005 Ashes series. The game is based on the 2003 Cricket World Cup of Africa and on the International Cricket Council Championship Trophy. These two modes that have been included in the game are given license from International Cricket Council (ICC). The game contains official player's names and faces. It also contains official kits, sponsors and badges too. This was the first game in which licensed bats were added.

Such as Test series, Test matches, World cup, One day match series, ICC Championship Trophy and also practice mode. Along these modes there are many difficulty settings that can be changed, like Slog mode, test, county and village. An option is given in the game through which the player can make his own team. The famous past cricketers are included in Classic XI mode such as Imran Khan, and Jim Laker. Challenge mode is also added in the game through which player can take cricket challenges which are based on notable cricket match. Player can also rewrite ot recreate the history saved in the game of the team they are playing with.
