God OF War Game Review: God of War is a 3rd person action and adventure video game. It was developed by Santa Monica Studio & published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The game was first released on 22nd of March, 2005, for the PlayStation 2 console. God of War is the first installment in the series of the same name & the 3rd chronologically. God of War is loosely based on Greek mythology, & is set in Ancient Greece with vengeance as its central motif. In the game, the player controls the protagonist named Kratos, who is a Spartan warrior and serves the Olympian Gods. In the game, the goddess Athena tasks Kratos with killing Ares, who is the god of war, and is responsible for Kratos accidentally killing his family. When Ares besieges Athens out of hatred for Athena, the Kratos embarks on a quest to find the one object capable of stopping the god: the legendary Pandora's Box. Kratos is successful and replaces the defeated Ares as the new god of war after and epic quest.
God OF War GamePlay God of War is a 3rd person single player video game viewed from a fixed camera perspective. In the game, the player assumes the character Kratos in combo-based combat, puzzle game and platforming elements. Platforming elements require the player to jump across champs, climb walls, swing on ropes, & balance across beams to proceed through sections of the game. God of War features some simple puzzles, such as moving a box so that the player use it as a jumping-off point to access a pathway unreachable with normal jumping, but the others are more complex, like finding several items across different areas of the game to unlock one door. The player finds chests colored green, red or blue, & each chest contains orbs of the corresponding color. The green orbs replenish the player's health, the blue orbs replenish magic allowing further usage, & the red orbs provide experience for upgrading weapons & magic. Allowing the playe a new, more powerful attacks & replenishing the Rage meter. If it fulls, it allows for the usage of the Rage of the Gods ability. The Red orbs are also collected by killing foes & destroying certain inanimate objects.
God OF War Game's Soundtrack: The original soundtrack of the game is composed by Ron Fish, Winnie Waldron, Gerard K. Marino, Winifred Phillips, Cris Velasco, Mike Reagan, & Marcello De Francisci. The soundtrack was released on CD by Sony Computer Entertainment on 1st of March, 2005.
God OF War Game's Awards: God of War won several Game of the Year awards. In the month of November, 2012, Complex magazine named God of War the 11th best PlayStation 2 game of all time. The game also won numerous other awards.
