IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs OF Dover Game Review: Cliffs of Dover has to live in its older cousin’s shadow. The series of IL-2 Sturmovik is one of the very best flight simulation series ever made. While Cliffs of Dover is a major improvement in innovation, the game looks like it may take a while before reaching a fully evolved persona. Additionally in the game, with all of the verbal combat & angst that has occurred in flight sim forums all over the Internet, it's difficult to actually make judgment how good & bad the game actually is. The game is made all the more difficult by the decision to put IL-2 Sturmovik into the name because it results in unintended consequences of direct comparison of the 2 titles. The player have a multitude options in the video setup screen to scale & adjust the game settings. It'll default to the suggested settings for the player computer's capabilities. When i played the game, I found that a mid to upper range computer with a capable video card produced in the past few years can run the game reasonably well with settings on medium, & the visual effects still look pretty good in the game. However, in order to run the game in full resolution with all effects the player will need a very powerful machine. The player is given many options to adjust detail levels in water, land, vehicle and aircraft, resolution as well as shadow and damage effects and the number of trees. While these various settings help the player with less than ultra high end computers run the game, making no mistake about this title if you do not have at least an above average computer, you'll not run this game well. There is still a problem with occasional stutters & slow downs even with above average equipment. The game engine requires a lot of horsepower.
