Lock On Modern Air Combat Game Review: Lock On Modern Air Combat is known in Russia as Lock On. Its a modern combat flight simulation that has been developed by Eagle Dynamics & published by Ubisoft in Europe & 1C Company in Russia. The game is considered as a survey simulator by its creators. The game contains eight flyable aircraft & over forty AI-controlled planes. It mainly revolves around air-to-air combat & air-to-ground combat with some optional unique roles such as anti-radiation strikes, aerobatics or anti-ship strikes. The game realistically models all the aspects of take off and landing, the game includes carrier-based landings for the Su-33, & Aerial refueling for other planes.
Lock On Modern Air Combat Game Features: Over 180,000 buildings, fifty million trees, twenty one cities, 1,700 towns, five hundred plus bridges, eighteen airfields, & eight naval bases are present in a virtual world modelled after Black Sea region. The eight flyable aircraft are the MiG-29C, Su-27, MiG-29A, Su-33, Su-25, F-15C, MiG-29G, & the A-10A. Due to the small number of aircraft, player can only fly as a pilot from either the US, the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Georgia, Germany or Israel. A flexible mission editor has been added to allow the player to make a wide variety of missions or full length campaigns. Many fan created mission packs & campaigns have also been released.
Lock On Modern Air Combat Upgrades: Aside from the v1.02 patch for the retail game the Eagle Dynamics, released an unofficial add-on named Lock On: Flaming Cliffs, which was designed in part to correct numerous flaws within the original game. This also includes another flyable aircraft, the Su-25T & several new missions. Some changes & tweaks to the games missile modeling are also included, as is an Advanced Flight Model for the Su-25T. Lock on Flaming Cliffs 2 is a further evolution of Lock On Flaming Cliffs. All of the aircrafts controlled by player have been transferred to the virtual environment created for the Digital Combat Simulator series.
