Sleeping Dogs Game Review: Sleeping Dogs 2012 is an open world action/adventure game developed by United Front Games in collaboration with Square Enix London Studios while published by Square Enix, this game was launched in August 2012 for Microsoft Windows, PS3 and Xbox 360. The game sets in Hong Kong and focuses on a secret undercover operation to infiltrate the Triads(a well known crime syndicate) Sleeping Dogs has a large cast. The lead character is Detective Wei Shen ,an officer sent deep undercover in a dangerous Triad gang. Other notable characters include Police Superintendent Thomas Pendrew, Shen's police handler named Raymond Mak, Wei Shen's childhood friend and small time Triad member Jackie Ma, and Triad ring leader(red pole) Winston Chu. The game begins in Victoria Harbour, where undercover police officer Wei Shen is arrested after a drug deal gone bad. Sentenced to spend some time in prison where Shen meets his old friend called Jackie Ma, Ma offers him to join his gang after the end of their imprisonment. Then he meets with Superintendent Thomas Pendrew in the interrogation quarter and his handler Raymond Mak. Shen tells them that he now has links with the Sun On Yee. After his meeting with Jackie, Wei Shen is introduced to Winston Chu who is a Sun On Yee red pole and head of the "Water Street Gang". In order to ensure his loyalty, Chu sends Wei Shen on various missions to seize back territory from "Jade Gang" a rival gang headed by Sam "Dogeyes" Lin. During one such mission, Shen is captured by Inspector Jane Teng, but Superintendent Thomas Pendrew bails him out and establish his identity to Jane Teng.The gameplay of Sleeping Dogs primarily consists of giving the player an open world surrounding in which they can roam freely.This adventure game is played in over the shoulder third-person perspective having role-playing elements. The gamer controls Wei Shen, a Chinese-American cop, as he goes undercover to breach the Sun On Yee Triad criminal organization. This character has the liberty to run,walk, jump, climb over obstacles and swim and of course use a variety of weapons and martial arts techniques in combat. Players can also take control of various vehicles like motorbikes,cars and boats.Sleeping Dogs got generally positive reviews. Aggregating review giant like GameRankings and Metacritic awarded the PC version 84.07% and 80 out of 100, PS3 version eighty three percent and 83 out of 100 while Xbox 360 version received a 80/100 ranking.Official PlayStation Magazine UK gave it 9/10. According to Editor Ben Wilson "Sleeping Dogs is definitely 2012's most brilliantly brutal surprise, and its necessary to check it out".
