Sniper Elite Nazie Zombie Army Game Review: The game provides support for up to 8 player brawls between an ensemble cast of Hollywood archetype heroes & thinly-veiled actor pastiches. It is not uncommon to see a good cop on his last day before retirement going katana-to-katana with Liam Neeson. The lack of controller support, making the jumping a little fiddly, start to make sense once the shooting begins. The aiming reticule has to actually hover over an enemy to score a hit. Animation consists of slides, rolls & backflips, this minor quirk makes combat tricky even with the trusty mouse. Even with the maelstrom of projectiles, muzzle flashes that accompany a fight and flailing bodies, the need to stay on target makes every duel feel intense, tight, and brutally dependent on skill. Only one exception involves throwing knives, which are both powerful & do not require precision aiming to hit. In the game, Melee combat, does not get as much screen time as its comedy potential deserves. The ability to pick up & throw props is hardly used at all. It is rarely viable to go rushing in with a lightsaber unless player is making use of 2 specific characters’ unique Hero Powers when most players are packing. Unlocks are mostly clothes, so there is little impetus to keep leveling up. Each character gets one of these as standard, though some are far more useful. The Arnie clone gets more usage than the Neeson clone, because an invulnerability shield usually beats easily avoidable frag grenades. Hero Powers are the only functional difference between each character, this imbalance cause a bit of a homogeneity problem in terms of who plays as who. There are only a handful of staple armament types, encounters are functionally similar & rarely demand a shift in tactics. The latter are weak & cannot use custom loadouts, so must rely on teamwork to overcome their Hollywood mandated ineptitude.
