IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 Full Version
IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 Game Review: IL-2 Sturmovik series is utterly unforgiving & realistic, bringing the combat flight simulation to the masses. IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 features the 2nd World War. However, the market is saturated with games from the WWII era, when it comes to flight combat nothing beats dogfighting. There are 9 entirely new campaigns in the 1946 expansion, each contains anywhere from one to 2 dozen missions each. New missions are actually scripted to allow for specific encounters this time around. The open-ended dynamic missions of Pacific Fighters showed a great deal of variability, the new missions feel a little constrained but the upshot is that almost all of missions involve some kind of compelling engagement. There are quite a few missions particularly in the VVS 46 campaign which task the player with uninteresting training & rebase missions. Most missions in which the player involved contains much more interesting actions. High-speed bombing runs in the player's Arado 234 in the new The Rebel campaign which is definitely a new thrill for all users. The end of the IJA campaign Glowing Glory is even better. However, it starts with the usual Hellcat scrambles in player's A6M5 over the waters around Iwo Jima, user will eventually find himself fighting off B-29 raids over the skies of Japan. Sturmovik legacy lengthens with new IL-10 campaign, Sturmoviks over Manchuria. As the player completes the Sturmovik in the final battles over Germany, he will find himself transferred to Manchuria where the Russians & Japanese are starting to clash. All the new jets are featured in the VVS '46 & Burning Streak campaigns, giving the players a chance to try out the latest & greatest jets from the Soviet & German stables. During dogfighting in a Yak-15 or a He-162 is a very different experience from the turn & burn tactics of the prop planes, it is no less exhilarating. The AI, graphics, sound, interface have not changed since the last release. Competition is still tough with a good sense of energy management, all planes are rendered down to the last rivet with all sorts of lovely moving control surfaces, & the basic mission set-up is still as convenient as it ever was.
